What Is Red Rover?

Children's game of 'Red Rover'

Do you remember playing the children's game "Red Rover"?

Kids form two opposing lines and attempt to "break through" the opposing team's side. One side starts the game by calling out "
Red Rover, Red Rover, send <Jane> right over". Her goal is to break through the line by overpowering the kid's hold on each other.

We often see companies working in China this way.

Except in this scenario Jane then lets go of her teammate's hands, cancels her meetings, calls her travel agent, books a hotel, kisses her kids and husband goodbye, and boards an airplane. Several hours later, with her feet now on foreign soil and after a 'what-is-that' breakfast, she meets her translator and begins dashing for the other line - your opponent - who, by the way, is also your supplier. At the factory she's likely to call you to report a host of new surprises which now need your attention at 2:30am.

Forget sleeping now.

Rather than sending Jane over to charge the line of your supplier, we will represent you with our knowledge and expertise of the market and the market-makers to work within the line of your supplier, connected and well-informed, as a team-member rather than an adversary. We can articulate your needs to enlighten workers to your customers concerns, and elevate your day-to-day issues to the decision makers.

Ultimately, there are no losers in Red Rover; a communal whole greater than the sum of its parts has been created, and some time has been spent in a collaborative fashion amongst its diverse participants.

What a wonderful world.
